The Age of the Girl Boss

We've all seen them. The hashtag of #girlboss or #bossbabe has become a label for the confident, successful woman who pursues her own ambitions and strays away from the "expected" path. It can be an empowering label that encourages women to start their own businesses or be motivated to rise up in their career field. It's not surprising the feminist movement is moving at an astounding pace due to social media.
But is it all for the positive? Young adult girls search hashtags and find a lot of women exposing their bodies, influencers pushing the latest "vitamin" and women totting around shopping bags from expensive stores. Although the concept of #girlboss is empowering, it has been taken over by women "thinking" they need to be beautiful, skinny and rich in order to be labeled #girlboss.
I say, we take it back! Success means so many different things for every woman, lets not be afraid to voice what success means to us. Personally, success is beating the 8-5 office work and being able to enjoy the freedom of working from my laptop. Being rich, skinny or beautiful has nothing to do with my success! The more we articulate what success or being a #girlboss really means, the more positive our influence will be on other women, which is really the whole point
